… EASTHAMPTON - The city has been selected to receive two grants from the Federal Emergency Management Administration totalling $613,278 that will be used to hire additional firefighters and to purchase new equipment for the fire department.

The announcement was made Tuesday by the office of Mayor Nichole LaChapelle. The grants will be formally announced on Friday afternoon when Sen. Edward Markey and Rep. Richard E. Neal visit the city.
