MassLive: With close to 100 people watching, ‘welcoming’ city ordinance on immigration status passes in Easthampton

… Easthampton officials including Mayor Nicole LaChapelle, Police Chief Robert Alberti, city councilors and groups such as the Easthampton Community Coalition, the Resistance Center of Peace and Justice and the ACLU Immigration Protection Project helped draft the ordinance.

“[The ordinance] was well-received and the councilors and certainly myself, and members of the Easthampton Community Coalition were very open to the conversation around the original ordinance and really wanted to flesh out everything,” LaChapelle said. Read more.
